Djamal B Biography
Djamal B is a singer, guitarist and composer. A graduate of the Jazz Department at the Lyon Conservatory, he continued his studies at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Barcelona before returning to France to develop his own artistic project.
Leading his quintet, he has developed a repertoire of French-language vocal jazz that combines original compositions with fresh interpretations inspired by iconic figures of French jazz, including Jean Sablon, Henri Salvador and Sacha Distel. The quintet features guitar, alto saxophone, piano, double bass and rhythm guitar, blending the language of Gypsy jazz with contemporary writing and sophisticated arrangements.
His debut album, recorded at Studio La Menuiserie, has been presented at the Jazz en Tête Festival and at the Clermont-Ferrand Opera House. His music has been featured on France Musique, notably in the program Au cœur du jazz, on FIP, and on several national and regional radio stations.
Alongside his performing career, Djamal B teaches in the Jazz Department of the Clermont-Ferrand Conservatory.
